About the Library

Our library was founded in October 1949. First it belonged to the Laboratory of Hydrotechnics, EFLAN, then it was transferred to JINR's Laboratory of Nuclear Problems and later, in 1954, it became the Library of the Youth Culture Department of JINR's labour union. Since 1993 it is a part of the JINR's Culture, Sports and Recreation service department.

Blokhintsev Library in Dubna can be named the JINR's Laboratory of Culture, continously hosting activities of interest for visitors of various ages and passions.

We have a vast collection of books for kids and adults (scientific and fiction books). We have work tables and free Wi-Fi.

We host meetings of readers' clubs and unions, meetings with writers and publishers, lections, concerts and exhibitions.

Becoming our Reader and Visitor

Our library is departmental, it is a part of the Social Infrastructure Office of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, but it also acts as a regular public library for all residents of Dubna.

In order to register at the library you will need your personal ID.
Books and periodicals are handed out for a maximum of two weeks. A reader who lost the books needs to reimburse the loss with a similar item or an item considered being of an equal value by the library.

In the library, you can study and read in specially dedicated locations, keeping silence and not interfering with other visitors. In order to use Wi-Fi connection your device needs to be registered in the network according to the current legislature.

Use of the library is free of charge.

Clubs for Adults

The Library's Literature Club

The club meetings take place each Monday at 6PM. During the tea party items of classic Russian literature are discussed. Anyone willing to join is welcome.

Guttenberg's Smoking Room in Dubna

This format of meetings is meant for retelling non-fiction books. Have read a book? Was it interesting or important? Retell it in front of a friendly audience, express your attitude, discuss it with your listeners.

Kids' clubs

Pochitayka: family book gatherings

This club is for our youngest readers. Loud reading with games for kids and their parents. We also get to know some classic books as well as newly published kids' books of Russian and foreign origin.

Soviki

Meetings for Pochitayka's graduates. 9 to 11 years old.

VIP 12+

Meetings for even older Pochitayka graduates. Teenagers of 12+ are welcome. We read what we like, discuss and play it.

Game Parties for kids

Weekly game parties for kids of 7 to 12 years old.

We and JINR

Since its foundation, the library belonged to the Laboratory of Hydrotechnics, EFLAN, then it was transferred to JINR's Laboratory of Nuclear Problems (LNP) and later, in 1954, it became the Library of the Youth Culture Department of JINR's labour union.

Since 1993 it is a part of the JINR's Culture, Sports and Recreation service department. Currently is a part of the JINR's Social Infrastructure Office, which also includes JINR's sports facilities, "Mir" house of culture and "Volga" recreation base.
