About the Library

Our library was founded in October 1949. First it belonged to the Laboratory of Hydrotechnics, EFLAN, then it was transferred to JINR's Laboratory of Nuclear Problems and later, in 1954, it became the Library of the Youth Culture Department of JINR's labour union. Since 1993 it is a part of the JINR's Culture, Sports and Recreation service department.

Blokhintsev Library in Dubna can be named the JINR's Laboratory of Culture, continously hosting activities of interest for visitors of various ages and passions.

We have a vast collection of books for kids and adults (scientific and fiction books). We have work tables and free Wi-Fi.

We host meetings of readers' clubs and unions, meetings with writers and publishers, lections, concerts and exhibitions.

Becoming our Reader and Visitor

Our library is a departmental library, part of the Social Infrastructure Department of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, but serves all Dubna residents as a regular public library.

We offer the following types of subscriptions:

• Children's subscription (up to 14 years old) - book delivery (up to 1 month)
• Adult subscription (14 years and older) - book delivery (up to 1 month)
• Children's and Adults' subscription reading rooms - literature, coworking, board games
• LitRes - access to e-books (separate registration required, more details)

To register for a children's subscription, you will need:

• Passport of one parent
• Child's birth certificate (preschoolers under 7 years old are registered in their parents' names)

To register for an adult subscription, you will need:

• Passport

Please note!

Registration is free for JINR employees and residents registered in the institute's district of Dubna. Residents of other city districts and visitors are required to leave a 1,000 ruble deposit.

• The deposit can be withdrawn at any time.
• If a reader has not visited the library for three years, their library card will be destroyed, and the deposit will be transferred to the library's collection.

This deposit guarantees the careful handling of books and the preservation of the library's collection.
